Yes, this will be my last post. What has prompted this? I recently came across the KonMari Method of decluttering. At first I thought it was some sort of decluttering fad. After reading more into it and getting the book, I realized I have been decluttering and organizing all wrong. I won't go into detail here because you only need to Google KonMari and you will get the idea. Better yet, get the book. It's not expensive, only $15, and well worth it.<br />
<br />
Anyways, this book got me thinking. While I think it only deals with the physical clutter in your home (I haven't finished it yet), I wanted to address my "To Do List" clutter. I have project, upon project to complete, but I really don't NEED to do them. The book says to keep things that only "spark joy". I asked myself "Do these projects spark joy?". Maybe at first thought, but now I feel them an obligation. One of these "to do clutter" I have is this blog. And it's ongoing. When I examined the "why" of this blog, I realized my motivations to have a blog were built upon self-esteem issues. Or lack thereof rather.<br />
<br />
I'm a stay-at-home-mom and have been for the past 10 years. I know personally that other people don't view SAHM's as a "real" job. This impacted me greatly and therefore I never viewed it as all that important either. And so I tried to do more. I thought if I had a blog then people would know that I do more than just clean and watch TV (I think that's what people think SAHM's do). Does it really matter if people know that I do more than clean or watch TV? No, it doesn't, and only recently did I realize this.<br />
<br />
After coming to this conclusion, I feel at peace to let the blog go. And that's not all. I'm letting Qwirk go too. Yes, that long-held dream of selling my products at Farmer's Market's has come to pass. It was a bucket-list item and I completed it. Not successfully, but completed it nonetheless. <br />
<br />
So now I will have more pictures of my kids on my camera and not pictures that I intended to put on my blog. I will no longer have to stress about uploading pictures onto my sloooowww computer, and taking the time to write posts, which do take awhile BTW. I will have more time to spend with my family. I will complete the projects that "spark joy" and not the ones that I feel I need to complete for the blog. I dislike technology and the more time I spend away from it, the better I feel. Also, I hate retail! So why would I open a shop intending to sell THINGS. I absolutely love to make things for my family and friends but to sell to the masses more of what they don't really need seems silly. Why I didn't realize this sooner? I don't know, but at least I'm realizing it before I'm in too deep.<br />
<br />
Knowing that I'm letting my blog go and Qwirk (my "business") go makes my feel free and light. I am keeping this blog up instead of deleting it like I'm tempted to, because I have been to blogs (via Pinterest, or other links) that have seemingly dropped off a cliff with no explanation. I always wonder what has happened to them to stop blogging, and I always think of the worst. Here I leave an explanation in case you're wondering.<br />
<br />
Now off I go to LIVE my life, instead of blogging about it.<br />
<br />
Blessings,<br />

<br />
I definitely needed one by the sewing machine. I would always forget to grab my pincushion and was too lazy to get up and grab it. Then I would just pile the needles beside the machine. Now that won't happen anymore!<br />

<br />
Another project from <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/Sewing-Sell-Beginners-Starting-Business/dp/1607059037" target="_blank">Sewing to Sell</a>; the boxy pincushion. The only difference I made to the pattern was make a scrappy rainbow for the top. I also filled it with crushed walnut shells. The pinchushions filled with polyfil were always so light. This one now feels like good quality. It's so fun to push the pins in (it doesn't take much to make me smile).<br />

The other ones were store bought and pretty icky looking after just one school year. So I pulled out my copy of <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/Sewing-Sell-Beginners-Starting-Business/dp/1607059037" target="_blank">Sewing to Sell</a> and made three lunch bags using the pattern from the book. I let each child choose their own fabric.<br />
<br />
Also, my oldest needed a "soft sided" pencil box for school. I wasn't sure what that meant, so I just made a pencil pouch that was big enough like those hard pencil boxes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwo5DX2xHu4Vs2v8gMT0kVD9pHRw0gvVn_QsxkY1uwacTtWHn7kpgXUS5Aip-2W6IhCryeJzYENq2TI8P8TL9ttKohJw-9pxOAJXiYOwqM_-AQ_0KbsYkj1G7ZqwDqonLcXt0OviY9-T4K/s1600/IMG_5150.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwo5DX2xHu4Vs2v8gMT0kVD9pHRw0gvVn_QsxkY1uwacTtWHn7kpgXUS5Aip-2W6IhCryeJzYENq2TI8P8TL9ttKohJw-9pxOAJXiYOwqM_-AQ_0KbsYkj1G7ZqwDqonLcXt0OviY9-T4K/s400/IMG_5150.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>

<br />
I followed a great tutorial for this pencil pouch found <a href="http://www.seasonedhomemaker.com/diy-zippered-box-pouch-tutorial/" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvZtwS1kbCZSuBYv_7c-umK-TQaXuZNsGOT5APJtQkMOlLC09ifwznSDUxuTT5mZDrGfLpWlPzcDNQIeGZMlj2ZwvO6nFUiSaUMEMUTKL0wM_vH0fkxYWBZVaL8TJ-lacM2oPJ_F9OsJx1/s1600/IMG_5152.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvZtwS1kbCZSuBYv_7c-umK-TQaXuZNsGOT5APJtQkMOlLC09ifwznSDUxuTT5mZDrGfLpWlPzcDNQIeGZMlj2ZwvO6nFUiSaUMEMUTKL0wM_vH0fkxYWBZVaL8TJ-lacM2oPJ_F9OsJx1/s400/IMG_5152.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So happy that these are done. I've wanted the kids to have stylish lunch bags for awhile, but didn't get around to it last year. Also, when the kids outgrow their clothes and it's not in good enough shape to give away (aka: stained), I salvage the zippers and buttons. The pencil box has a zipper from an old sweater. The zipper had a cute pull with a heart in it. It adds a cute little extra to the pouch I think.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I did it! I finally finished that crocheted rag rug I've wanted to do for years! I didn't follow a pattern. I just made a foundation chain as long as I wanted the width and then kind of improvised from there with a pattern of colours I had available. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWqMurFF7vy_WZ4PlwbSCnQkvakFTb1yYkYE4IRlzgVd4GwiAl5Ft-dhyphenhyphenxczWCVUHHIDdBanpwxSLwmlOLrzDGDL_Y08gcDR58xU7RY5Y3MbmJSkb__3kbNCAq7QikZ5IPnc76Il7I71Xc/s1600/IMG_5145.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWqMurFF7vy_WZ4PlwbSCnQkvakFTb1yYkYE4IRlzgVd4GwiAl5Ft-dhyphenhyphenxczWCVUHHIDdBanpwxSLwmlOLrzDGDL_Y08gcDR58xU7RY5Y3MbmJSkb__3kbNCAq7QikZ5IPnc76Il7I71Xc/s400/IMG_5145.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, I'll be honest, it's not the nicest looking rug. I just used the colours I had. Also the edges aren't straight. That's due to the fact that the fabrics I used were different weights. So even if I had 1" ripped strip, some strips were thicker than others. This was more of a trial. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The only thing was, it was missing the canopy. Not sure what happened to it but I wasn't complaining, it was free! It still had the plastic brim that holds the canopy up, but it was broken. It was held together by some duct tape. For some strange reason I thought, no problem, I'll just make a new canopy.<br />
<br />
Well I did just that. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgji6iEK0JVbNTJI76Sa75RPqbY3gRviB9pEuiNuqEYCvpMFRf_En5BsCchQX15cXfMc2P6MMjLPJOVPffFYd3Uu7HtRU7jpa6I1uiGhqcOZT8isujFb2WrOOIz2uGtbvoHux3KyVB_N7Wk/s1600/IMG_5132.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgji6iEK0JVbNTJI76Sa75RPqbY3gRviB9pEuiNuqEYCvpMFRf_En5BsCchQX15cXfMc2P6MMjLPJOVPffFYd3Uu7HtRU7jpa6I1uiGhqcOZT8isujFb2WrOOIz2uGtbvoHux3KyVB_N7Wk/s400/IMG_5132.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I don't have any pictures on how I made it but I'll try to explain what I did.<br />
<br />
My husband suggested we add strength to the plastic brim with some Popsicle sticks and then add more good ol' duct tape.<br />
<br />
I first measured the length of the brim and added 1". Then from the top of the brim I measured down to the back and added 2" to allow room for a casing for the elastic. I used purple for the brim and cushioned it with some leftover batting. I then sewed the purple to the rest of the fabric that I chose. I was able to pop off that brim to sew on the fabric. It was a little awkward with the machine but in the end, persistence prevailed. <br />
<br />

<br />
There is elastic added to the back to keep things snug but movable. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTKwjQ7uBLeG8LOH0PzN9MGQH3le0hCMIedsmp4f1dv60Dy2vC0HGE7WT_74cta7RVoSiuXtRzpWZslz8NaaiVLYNVt5pjfjNsospn738wYJWYFO2LuwhTTg5Qh1IYxjaKPFekcgQnq8Dy/s1600/IMG_5136.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTKwjQ7uBLeG8LOH0PzN9MGQH3le0hCMIedsmp4f1dv60Dy2vC0HGE7WT_74cta7RVoSiuXtRzpWZslz8NaaiVLYNVt5pjfjNsospn738wYJWYFO2LuwhTTg5Qh1IYxjaKPFekcgQnq8Dy/s400/IMG_5136.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Because the fabric was one big square, I had to gather the fabric at the sides. I just tucked it underneath and then sewed that in place.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX9anSCQFuD9BwUkl0NmVeIGJ5eksgVkbSXugwNXlD3g6Y8nJlHd0ry_GA-sFnOQwIwxlErv89Lq4l5IOf04YBkB8Y2nfLUZqQnwxmT1BiEVq70hC3cFiVkDYv26oInV11I2xl4wQCDgfi/s1600/IMG_5138.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX9anSCQFuD9BwUkl0NmVeIGJ5eksgVkbSXugwNXlD3g6Y8nJlHd0ry_GA-sFnOQwIwxlErv89Lq4l5IOf04YBkB8Y2nfLUZqQnwxmT1BiEVq70hC3cFiVkDYv26oInV11I2xl4wQCDgfi/s400/IMG_5138.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And that's it. Even though I had no idea on how to go about making this, I am thankful it turned out well. <br />
<br />

This time it's the boy version. And appropriately I had my boy display it. Aren't those feet cute?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This was quilted in a spiral "straight" stitch, just like the neutral version. The quilting went so quickly. It was done in 45min tops! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The edging is again done with white bias tape. I hand stitched it just like the girl version. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And there you have it. The last installation of baby quilts using <a href="http://www.cluckclucksew.com/2015/06/scrappy-strips-quilt-tutorial.html" target="_blank">this pattern</a> from Cluck Cluck Sew. </div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The tractor came and made these hay barrels in the greenspace behind our house. I'm glad I was able to get these pictures in before they hauled 34 barrels away! For this version I quilted squares within squares. It took longer than baby quilt #1 because of all the stopping and turning.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Baby quilt # 3 is next, and it's the boy version.Christinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03571867259143998018noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8231964540365857236.post-89393955761574294462015-07-20T16:53:00.000-07:002015-07-24T09:58:15.610-07:00Baby Quilt #1I'm not sure if I told you, but there are three of us ladies in the neighbourhood all due within two weeks of each other. We're all friends too, but we didn't plan this. It's crazy! <br />
<br />
I decided to make three baby quilts, one for each of us to commemorate this journey we've shared together.<br />
<br />
One lady already gave birth on the first of this month (she's always early). I made her quilt top neutral since nobody knew what she was having. It ended up being a boy, which is great because I think this quilt suits a boy better anyway.<br />

I used <a href="http://www.cluckclucksew.com/2015/06/scrappy-strips-quilt-tutorial.html" target="_blank">this</a> pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew. So nice and quick. Great for a crazy pregnant lady making 3 baby quilts back to back!<br />
<br />
Since I had some extra bits from the end of the block row, I decided to add them to the backing to break up the mundane of the white.<br />
<br />
I quilted it in a spiral "straight" stitch pattern.<br />

Since I couldn't run in it, I thought it would be nice to give back to the running community in this small way.<br />
<br />
We each received a volunteer shirt. They were both size large. When we got home I questioned what to do with my daughters t-shirt.<br />
<br />
My answer was "You make a drawstring bag from it". I used a pattern from <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/Sewing-Sell-The-Beginners-Starting-Business-ebook/dp/B00NYCE3ZY" target="_blank">Sewing to Sell</a>. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnDDe-_DO5jKesVFz-dWwZnTx-7wH745XEVkdzRJJOSG-4Vv7p-Psvkmxs5F9gBbMcCyCs2f4Gb8Fo5pxTlASsKbdpd1bX3EUnyyV-tUicpFi9iBxtRtq8XyGOZoSDtSiWXMIOC8s-Mt0R/s1600/IMG_5076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnDDe-_DO5jKesVFz-dWwZnTx-7wH745XEVkdzRJJOSG-4Vv7p-Psvkmxs5F9gBbMcCyCs2f4Gb8Fo5pxTlASsKbdpd1bX3EUnyyV-tUicpFi9iBxtRtq8XyGOZoSDtSiWXMIOC8s-Mt0R/s400/IMG_5076.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I gathered my materials and cut them to size. I forgot to take a picture of the t-shirt but as you can see it was large enough to get two 18" squares from both sides. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the liner I used some material that I made a skirt from and then never wore because it looked awful. It was terrible for a skirt but fabulous for the liner of this bag.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This was made for my daughter who helped me that day. It's a nice way to commemorate the day that we spent together. And she has a functional bag to boot. I will probably make one out of my t-shirt to hold my gym shoes in. I turned to my quick and easy sewn headband pattern found on Happy Together's blog <a href="http://www.happytogetherbyjess.com/double-sided-fabric-headband-pattern/" target="_blank">here</a>. It's great. I've made at least 8 already. It's easier to make multiples actually. If I do an assembly line (like 4 at a time) they average about 15 min to make, each.<br />
<br />
Here are just two of the ones I made.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKcTn_YOuir62Hhift7vH16M9149UIAn7tG04vNe1rt72KGesy6kzRI6HYA70hHAM9JSIJwbC4T5xNPK2-8gB6Wz7sQRmGYieacvWOdkN79I3A6lypyJPLOkUVhBUP5QgxVcU-hT-XgVwB/s1600/IMG_1281.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKcTn_YOuir62Hhift7vH16M9149UIAn7tG04vNe1rt72KGesy6kzRI6HYA70hHAM9JSIJwbC4T5xNPK2-8gB6Wz7sQRmGYieacvWOdkN79I3A6lypyJPLOkUVhBUP5QgxVcU-hT-XgVwB/s400/IMG_1281.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
A pretty cute and quick gift I'd say. Almost every little girl in the area has one, and they're each unique, just like the girls who wear them.<br />
<br />
The next three or so blog posts will be scheduled while I await the arrival of baby #6. Don't need to be thinking about blogging while I'm nursing and recovering, that's for sure.<br />

We followed <a href="http://ana-white.com/2011/02/coat-tree-under-10" target="_blank">these plans</a> from Ana White, but made a couple changes.<br />
<br />
First we started off with some scrap wood we had lying around (literally lying around in the backyard). My husband cut the main piece and then the bottom pieces as stated. We attached them like it says but let the main piece touch the floor as well for added support. Since these are originally intended for the outdoor market I need extra support in case it gets windy or someone accidentally yanks on a bag and it falls over. So, we added a base on the bottom to hold a small sand bag I made for even more support.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtZxSdXI3S8g_60zO9nF-fz9iDnO4bE6Ixsfx9FjW8alb7hKs3ERuGCOR6Ap274e3gWOm09vpp62tO3qs5bLct25qAw9GEBVTNn4bCpgx0M-QGhvLVzENqZ3lRc02goo8a0g4L28-1UJG2/s1600/IMG_5050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtZxSdXI3S8g_60zO9nF-fz9iDnO4bE6Ixsfx9FjW8alb7hKs3ERuGCOR6Ap274e3gWOm09vpp62tO3qs5bLct25qAw9GEBVTNn4bCpgx0M-QGhvLVzENqZ3lRc02goo8a0g4L28-1UJG2/s400/IMG_5050.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
While the original plans have very adorable wooden hooks that look like branches, I really didn't feel like doing more cutting and painting. I kept my eye open for some sort of hook, or at the very least I was going to drill a hole through the main piece and stick a dowel through. Well, my patience paid off. I found a set of twelve shower hooks for $2at the thrift store! I used six hooks per rack.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOKak2Z_hFpgjBuOA98qrrsHSQfL47OtvmmOZ_5umiR9nAjhOX28hRnlBWw0PoHNfFpZhyphenhyphenUrzVOaxOyN4-kLkzkfy5cNOZcLPBgwbm-B_vp9QEItEmbyLGShbCj4Be4-af_crCxHk9f-7i/s1600/IMG_5053.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOKak2Z_hFpgjBuOA98qrrsHSQfL47OtvmmOZ_5umiR9nAjhOX28hRnlBWw0PoHNfFpZhyphenhyphenUrzVOaxOyN4-kLkzkfy5cNOZcLPBgwbm-B_vp9QEItEmbyLGShbCj4Be4-af_crCxHk9f-7i/s400/IMG_5053.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
They turned out great. Here's the breakdown of cost:<br />
<br />

Primer---------------------Free from the recycling depot<br />
Paint------------------------Free (leftover from my sewing room)<br />

<br />
Cost Per Hat Rack= $1<br />
<br />
Can't really beat that.<br />

Yesterday I debuted at my first Farmer's Market. How did it go you ask?<br />
<br />
Cue music....womp, womp, wooomp. <br />
<br />
Ya, it didn't go so well. It was the opening weekend, well, a Friday to be exact. So due to the fact it was a Friday, kids are in school and it was during working hours, there wasn't much traffic. <br />
<br />
The market itself was well run and I loooved the fact that I could pull up, through my stall and set up with my vehicle close by. That was hugely appreciated. It meant I could have a little more room at the back of my tent not only to move around, but to have access to my vehicle meant I could easily store things.<br />
<br />
Anyways, on to some pictures and some lessons learned.<br />

<i>#1. Scout Out Your Market Beforehand</i><br />
<i> </i>I like knowing what I'm getting into before I jump in. That's just who I am, but this time, I decided to go in blind. Mostly due to the fact that I had my Mother-In-Law visiting and I needed the help. This was the only weekend that she could do it. Anyway, if I had scouted out beforehand I would have realized that this market wasn't right for my stuff. You know you're at the wrong market when it takes you 45 min to set up because you have so much product and display while it takes everyone else 10 min. I guess you could say they were efficient and knew what they were doing.<br />
<i> </i> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8-Ik9iPfYeCs5rVkJQNGxlp1ruopIghpYexa5OIIgTxIFRvWcerdtV2mBdLJ_7s_JMW5u0iFOQa-DORE5WzNwIJL1wUKr2AO7Wb_UJYCgZMpnY9YYCis7w33TAnIbx9OkAqE6eud3x3j5/s1600/IMG_1269.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8-Ik9iPfYeCs5rVkJQNGxlp1ruopIghpYexa5OIIgTxIFRvWcerdtV2mBdLJ_7s_JMW5u0iFOQa-DORE5WzNwIJL1wUKr2AO7Wb_UJYCgZMpnY9YYCis7w33TAnIbx9OkAqE6eud3x3j5/s400/IMG_1269.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<i> </i><br />
<i>#2 Don't Debut At An Opening Weekend</i><br />
<i> </i>I talked to a couple of the vendors and they told me that the first two weekends they suffer, and then things start to pick up. I think it's just because people aren't used to the idea of an outdoor market yet. School is still on, kids sports activities are still going and people's weekends are filled. I think it's usually near the end of June, that weekends start to free up for people and the Market now becomes their "thing" they do. Unless of course the market is always busy no matter what weekend it is.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7qRkqUJACIQ9gI12zi6x6IrC1j_HRcQBJ2DqXrWd2tXjdPw3OY9R34dN8CZOLqhKyUskDjvn8RPLeo9Dmm7YLReF5kEIoytONsD2goaWJDbRS52MAtCFD9DcTht_5LtTOdlqbbuQ9r78Q/s1600/IMG_1270.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7qRkqUJACIQ9gI12zi6x6IrC1j_HRcQBJ2DqXrWd2tXjdPw3OY9R34dN8CZOLqhKyUskDjvn8RPLeo9Dmm7YLReF5kEIoytONsD2goaWJDbRS52MAtCFD9DcTht_5LtTOdlqbbuQ9r78Q/s400/IMG_1270.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>#3 Be Adaptable</i><br />
<i> </i>It wasn't until the last two hours that I realized the little traffic that their was, was coming in from one side and the only table that people could see as they passed was the table with the higher priced items. They completely passed by the table at the back that had the lower priced items. When I realized this I moved my bookmarks ($4) to the other table and shuffled things around. I will remember this for next time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm_GBVmFxdwO7Gw9Qz38qqMP_PZ6We3rF3fPs6FpDAkRCfPBH1C93IH0Li1FHSpTgLioEwSBipwJRycnCNobMcLkHuh-6zpwReMrTbHvsQ2ekZoOo81OsaT_VL6u5_joZ7XGM51tQGvpd3/s1600/IMG_1272.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm_GBVmFxdwO7Gw9Qz38qqMP_PZ6We3rF3fPs6FpDAkRCfPBH1C93IH0Li1FHSpTgLioEwSBipwJRycnCNobMcLkHuh-6zpwReMrTbHvsQ2ekZoOo81OsaT_VL6u5_joZ7XGM51tQGvpd3/s400/IMG_1272.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>#4 Don't Sell Yourself Short</i><br />
<i> </i> I felt confident in my prices. I calculated my time and material well. I researched on Etsy and other sources for comparable products. I asked family and friends what they thought. I didn't want to be greedy but I also wanted to be compensated for my time and effort. I took all this into consideration when pricing my items, and was sure that I was charging appropriately. With all this, I only made two real sales (besides family and friends). I would have had to reduce my prices significantly to the point of loss if anyone would buy my products at this market. I didn't want to do that just for the sake of a sale. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijqyZwD-q_dFGbFRXA2cwdw2ycrvLqQ7_Vn1SB69FtQnptOHqAEWAfCDYOTfhFqQ0quPbiruvhoe1F8ET60G33L9MqPEAlxq9lhb_C6ObypxuHkx0Dp9ur53jLTnmRhJm_g1GMBDXcZe8K/s1600/IMG_1271.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijqyZwD-q_dFGbFRXA2cwdw2ycrvLqQ7_Vn1SB69FtQnptOHqAEWAfCDYOTfhFqQ0quPbiruvhoe1F8ET60G33L9MqPEAlxq9lhb_C6ObypxuHkx0Dp9ur53jLTnmRhJm_g1GMBDXcZe8K/s400/IMG_1271.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>#5 Be Prepared For Anything</i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<i> </i>I thought of everything it seems, "just in case". The questions in my mind before were "what if I sell everything?", "what if I don't sell anything?", "what if it rains?", "Will I have enough bags?"<i> </i>etc. I had a ton of bags it turns out. I realized it would be a good thing if I did sell everything and even if I didn't sell anything I knew just the experience would be worth it. Having thought out many scenarios, I felt at ease. The past few weeks have been a flurry of preparation but I wasn't up late the night before getting anything last minute done. I wanted to be done, with time to spare in case something popped up. I was able to go to bed easy and had a sound sleep because everything was thought of, and done ahead of time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9rgIbEG-pLw7JI7VbpKzsVfXCkM48w9dfCw-YhmJ_Uxwm8BWoYuzsv_LRM_CNUY37IydRcjOgK1cx6kNBHBbozKab0PaBtOrgvZ0r-nRS8kq_CpRGFX9Z0oMHiJQqOjfsuDXk2ZBwm0Xx/s1600/IMG_1268.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9rgIbEG-pLw7JI7VbpKzsVfXCkM48w9dfCw-YhmJ_Uxwm8BWoYuzsv_LRM_CNUY37IydRcjOgK1cx6kNBHBbozKab0PaBtOrgvZ0r-nRS8kq_CpRGFX9Z0oMHiJQqOjfsuDXk2ZBwm0Xx/s400/IMG_1268.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>

I had lots of support from family and friends and am very grateful for their help. Thanks to all who attended and those who had such nice things to say. Although the "one time" stretched over a few days. <br />
<br />
While my oldest three were at school and the younger two were at the table playing with playdough, I went and gathered a bunch of my larger scraps of fabric. Turns out I had a lot. Variety is good right?<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Although I have a great sewing space in the basement, it's nice to get some natural light, so I brought up some of the equipment upstairs. It was nice to have the change.</div>

I cut all my fusible fabric fleece and fabric into 4 1/2" squares. After fusing everything together I had to go back downstairs and sew everything up. Now I have 32 sets of 4 total to sell at the market (I had made a previous 4 loooong time before). </div>

I have already made a couple display props for some of my products but I still needed something for my kitchen scrubbies and bookmarks. Here's what I came up with.<br />
<br />
With a quick trip to the Dollar Store I picked up some plastic plates 4/$1.25 and 2 Margarita plastic cups $1.25 ea.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid8k-FtyG9FRLadM0yauW7MVNY6avPkAdLRjnkqLXPo-f2mBeAaXSZEQuhXYrV38oEy0NBbkrX2d1dk8ulg5MuQsbEkmqaQBE_rERViNVqAFcOWBgu0bNsiMWW1_R61oBBcws3PSHroq75/s1600/IMG_4977.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid8k-FtyG9FRLadM0yauW7MVNY6avPkAdLRjnkqLXPo-f2mBeAaXSZEQuhXYrV38oEy0NBbkrX2d1dk8ulg5MuQsbEkmqaQBE_rERViNVqAFcOWBgu0bNsiMWW1_R61oBBcws3PSHroq75/s1600/IMG_4977.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then measured the diameter of the cups and made a small dot on the plastic plate to indicated how far the cup should go. I added E6000 glue to the cup rim and stuck that sucker down. I did this twice. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL2byxNw0it0zedW-Abl9D1q53BzT_J-iMeRlVcY-T2nhgzmz4KqN9tVH63S00yi638zek0gY4T8FvjegUTdT91B2AhyMNbqLwqLF-_-D6PXJHsuJ7lvfDYhP95T35TdEdzgyCPvQ8c9FB/s1600/IMG_4979.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL2byxNw0it0zedW-Abl9D1q53BzT_J-iMeRlVcY-T2nhgzmz4KqN9tVH63S00yi638zek0gY4T8FvjegUTdT91B2AhyMNbqLwqLF-_-D6PXJHsuJ7lvfDYhP95T35TdEdzgyCPvQ8c9FB/s1600/IMG_4979.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did the same thing for the bottom of the Margarita cups.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqAFdgBHVs4OPuFR2fYGRbHnhlRSe_HmPkwKbAb5bsAEzv-4AM7tTmd8lO5U1sXtIvhVLw1yKEjIHb3WgmZ2tLR0JqznNrJFTwL4gm7RJ5TKPkykzJh3mzKBawab2PcWDnYCbrZ8K0Y9MX/s1600/IMG_4982.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqAFdgBHVs4OPuFR2fYGRbHnhlRSe_HmPkwKbAb5bsAEzv-4AM7tTmd8lO5U1sXtIvhVLw1yKEjIHb3WgmZ2tLR0JqznNrJFTwL4gm7RJ5TKPkykzJh3mzKBawab2PcWDnYCbrZ8K0Y9MX/s1600/IMG_4982.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then stuck both plates with the cups on top to make a cupcake-like tray. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKK7OINjN7MNFXd-CzLnTekUUM4q0st8leLDzWxcHfDK-gGN-_gaokz4UwZ-U4fnuDKrPokdzEBSnGnvOiraG0jNGvVF9ng7q6phonVD7ugMc3H8cWKcZQyQEKQOCuD2pohtWQmRk6Jn-l/s1600/IMG_4983.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKK7OINjN7MNFXd-CzLnTekUUM4q0st8leLDzWxcHfDK-gGN-_gaokz4UwZ-U4fnuDKrPokdzEBSnGnvOiraG0jNGvVF9ng7q6phonVD7ugMc3H8cWKcZQyQEKQOCuD2pohtWQmRk6Jn-l/s1600/IMG_4983.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Set it to dry with weight on top to ensure a tight seal. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdi-q7Yx7kasGF1WDneErCcG363cs4zcKIi-0rbRMMwNagqVXRDLrpL6g1iHW38l2OdsX9hl8zwMEYBjN8FClOSCfU5x9kQVOmsKLgbrGqiW42XHbbWf4yC66Paczn53LnGMROh8vI-sB4/s1600/IMG_4984.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdi-q7Yx7kasGF1WDneErCcG363cs4zcKIi-0rbRMMwNagqVXRDLrpL6g1iHW38l2OdsX9hl8zwMEYBjN8FClOSCfU5x9kQVOmsKLgbrGqiW42XHbbWf4yC66Paczn53LnGMROh8vI-sB4/s1600/IMG_4984.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And Voila! A stylish way to display those cutie scrubbies for $3.75. Almost good enough to eat.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkmKnZeMt3gk0_TZ30lnXZjKX9i3x-iN5TI8O9pbzzKkcpINUBEHUiY3vhuzk5iOzooU6B3EZn3yFmGIrdugkcLkpvmuFvvfFoTp6NvlanDjTHsEGETKzQXEC34TjNgkuVd2yfeh7qCLZP/s1600/IMG_4990.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkmKnZeMt3gk0_TZ30lnXZjKX9i3x-iN5TI8O9pbzzKkcpINUBEHUiY3vhuzk5iOzooU6B3EZn3yFmGIrdugkcLkpvmuFvvfFoTp6NvlanDjTHsEGETKzQXEC34TjNgkuVd2yfeh7qCLZP/s1600/IMG_4990.JPG" width="266" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next up is the bookmark display. I saw this idea on Pinterest. I took a book that wasn't being used and folded each of the 200+ pages in half. </div>

Things are comin' along. Christinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03571867259143998018noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8231964540365857236.post-50455980874557380262015-04-27T15:29:00.000-07:002015-04-27T15:29:00.041-07:00Makin' YarnI constantly need to have my hands busy. Especially when I'm watching a show. I can't just sit and watch. No. I'd feel like I'm wasting time. If I'm not folding clothes or crocheting I turn to this soothing project during TV time: Making yarn.<br />
<br />
I've made yarn from clothes before. But here I am making it out of sheets or old duvet covers. I keep this project in a bin and accessible so when the opportunity strikes I'm ready.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkjXbCs3B1F8nBYdU3rKX02G5qY3KGBKW-ulWwLDEbrnLsmbTOaTjmjnQhkLPbGn6FcXNkOCMCUPY8J7dgQR2D2KDOkdocHDDkcKcIM4n1xugydtYQAckbv_X_qmeUs4NCNFrxmqrVozHW/s1600/IMG_4935.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkjXbCs3B1F8nBYdU3rKX02G5qY3KGBKW-ulWwLDEbrnLsmbTOaTjmjnQhkLPbGn6FcXNkOCMCUPY8J7dgQR2D2KDOkdocHDDkcKcIM4n1xugydtYQAckbv_X_qmeUs4NCNFrxmqrVozHW/s1600/IMG_4935.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Just look at those beautiful balls.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsjW6NI62USDUoq1_enFA5nOjSlLlRn9cih-Mbyz3YhDRrIj_XpuEmUd0lbSHZqwI57v9Hrivfr1sjDbCSF2jUMLzogHlHLLFJsgjx1uF280fFUJZXiikrNicXmePUEeUuz6WHvSjpEBAe/s1600/IMG_4933.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsjW6NI62USDUoq1_enFA5nOjSlLlRn9cih-Mbyz3YhDRrIj_XpuEmUd0lbSHZqwI57v9Hrivfr1sjDbCSF2jUMLzogHlHLLFJsgjx1uF280fFUJZXiikrNicXmePUEeUuz6WHvSjpEBAe/s1600/IMG_4933.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We're planning on ripping out our carpet and putting in a laminate floor which means we're going to need some sort of area rug. That is what this will be for. I plan on making a rug but for that I'm gonna need lots of yarn. I've seen many methods but <a href="http://www.instructables.com/id/Sheet-Yarn" target="_blank">this</a> is the one I use. The only difference is I cut them into 1" strips instead of 2".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinDYJPuzhDtol6MucoH-eW6YNe2oy3Z0w7XSSknv9KGXNeuo-6G-_lu2fv9NjVpkALIO5ugZZO7PCNbtCjLetWDdHNmqVBy3ubCEMUSSPLp3CWgaMMN_AybklW8wFmO1a0GopGqBNDeC4W/s1600/IMG_4934.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinDYJPuzhDtol6MucoH-eW6YNe2oy3Z0w7XSSknv9KGXNeuo-6G-_lu2fv9NjVpkALIO5ugZZO7PCNbtCjLetWDdHNmqVBy3ubCEMUSSPLp3CWgaMMN_AybklW8wFmO1a0GopGqBNDeC4W/s1600/IMG_4934.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My neighbour mention she has some old sheets that she's going to give me and I got so giddy when she mentioned it. They're Micky Mouse sheets, so you know those balls will be colourful. Umm, that didn't sound so good, but I think you know what I mean.<br />
<br />Christinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03571867259143998018noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8231964540365857236.post-8578812996485350512015-04-20T15:29:00.001-07:002015-04-21T05:39:26.573-07:00Menu Chalkboard<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I'm going to start this off by saying, I hate cooking. Don't mind baking, love eating, but HATE cooking. Especially when I don't know what to make and it's 5:15pm when everyone's belly is grumbling. I then get panicky and grouchy.<br />
<br />
I knew I needed a solution and I've tried planning before. It worked for a little but I would just put my plan on a little piece of paper on the side of the fridge. Little white piece of paper on a white fridge? So uninspiring.<br />
<br />
Self discovery: I guess I really do need things to be, not only functional but also pretty to keep me inspired to keep up with an organizing system. <br />
<br />
I decided to make a chalkboard menu board in the kitchen. I had a picture frame that wasn't being used.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6MJVLoP8nHSC1cwnS9jJKaJU1oyAH99XiT5y83_NwP10GZyUqNP8RROXmsV5xGzuoyBeKQPLf7IR7Ihm_lV2AoKeZ__MIMIJJGa_PwmzcaMC8g434oOySH361uID58QQOojg7M-yOUDgE/s1600/IMG_4949.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6MJVLoP8nHSC1cwnS9jJKaJU1oyAH99XiT5y83_NwP10GZyUqNP8RROXmsV5xGzuoyBeKQPLf7IR7Ihm_lV2AoKeZ__MIMIJJGa_PwmzcaMC8g434oOySH361uID58QQOojg7M-yOUDgE/s1600/IMG_4949.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I then took out the glass and picture and was happy to find a smooth surface underneath.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO0GYn6BELVM_tIEMO3wmEd04fjq0XVpfuHWtB8BxXoAY7vLy4EdeBligB2Vbfd66rfxuxt9Js81-nAQB3MIxI4HVPB4EemKdfWA0Z1qSL-NoWKwcMdGXDGlSHNV0Qc3D5OGtZNfce3PEF/s1600/IMG_4950.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">.<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO0GYn6BELVM_tIEMO3wmEd04fjq0XVpfuHWtB8BxXoAY7vLy4EdeBligB2Vbfd66rfxuxt9Js81-nAQB3MIxI4HVPB4EemKdfWA0Z1qSL-NoWKwcMdGXDGlSHNV0Qc3D5OGtZNfce3PEF/s1600/IMG_4950.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
From there I painted the board with some chalkboard paint like I did in the <a href="http://sparepocketsoftime.blogspot.ca/2015/03/craft-show-price-signs.html" target="_blank">Craft Show Price Sign Post</a>. I jazzed up the border with some washi tape and tried my best to do some fancy lettering.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used a command hook for the top and a couple dollar-store cheapy ones to take some weight off on the bottom. The bottom ones also keep the board from banging every time we open the pantry. Also to keep things from banging I added some second skin on the bottom part of the frame where the hooks touch and a piece of plastic wrap on the top hook.</div>

I had to come up with some price signs for the upcoming outdoor Farmer's Market I plan on attending at the beginning of June.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had a couple Ikea picture frames laying around at home. Then I found a white one at the thrift store for 25 cents! Score. Although brand new, they're only $1 anyway, but at least it saved me a trip to Ikea. I also had some wooden coin things that a neighbour-boy was selling last summer. I knew they'd come in handy at some point. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4ePTZbmUTnRDdn9ZeCTMVgDKFfU5m4caVDesnHzCqqlzkKFo1-gH6wK3G9klyIlgLmSOshvucyP2CnqzmuQUNG3xNKb4P1WxeQah1MRzeNYmUcJ57IcL55OwDOnpXt5mnl5K-TsWD321Q/s1600/IMG_4887.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4ePTZbmUTnRDdn9ZeCTMVgDKFfU5m4caVDesnHzCqqlzkKFo1-gH6wK3G9klyIlgLmSOshvucyP2CnqzmuQUNG3xNKb4P1WxeQah1MRzeNYmUcJ57IcL55OwDOnpXt5mnl5K-TsWD321Q/s1600/IMG_4887.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's how you turn them into display signs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Each frame has two hard plastic sleeves that you sandwich a picture in between. I suppose you could make a price sign and put that in there, but I wanted little chalkboards. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We only need one of the plastic pieces for each frame. Like my fancy painting set-up? I used little plastic medicine cups for drying.</div>

<br />
I have little holes drilled into the wood pieces as an option to hang the them, but I may end up duct-taping them to what I need. We'll see. There you have it, a low-cost price signage solution.<br />

I know I've been absent here on me 'ol blog. I have good reason. I've been sewing up a storm for one thing, and another is I've been having trouble uploading pictures on my computer. No pictures = No blog posts :( I've had to resort to the slow laptop, which is how I'm able to get this post done but hopefully that will be rectified soon. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyway, back to this post. I wanted to share with you the projects I've been up to lately. I recently bought this fabulous book; "Sewing to Sell" by <a href="http://gingercake.org/gingercake/" target="_blank">Gingercake</a> founder Virginia Lindsay. It's full of useful info, especially for a newbie such as myself. It also has some great projects that she has graciously allowed people to sell through your own shop. Here are some items I've made. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Purse organizers. I chose to forego the front pocket. (I should probably iron my backdrop, but let's just say it adds texture to the shot, m'kay?)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5xw7QL3vH2co5SmXn0k4hWl6WM-yuRgb8L6lg4jEyKweCydYpKUNuw30QxQcTH7tVK7S1P3KYMxY_xw25V6LV7GWcpyZ8f8eFYOv5x_ybf0sD3QfW4uZ1KQ5Lhtw3I7iLpbqyF84JfeuP/s1600/IMG_4877.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5xw7QL3vH2co5SmXn0k4hWl6WM-yuRgb8L6lg4jEyKweCydYpKUNuw30QxQcTH7tVK7S1P3KYMxY_xw25V6LV7GWcpyZ8f8eFYOv5x_ybf0sD3QfW4uZ1KQ5Lhtw3I7iLpbqyF84JfeuP/s1600/IMG_4877.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And the inside:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Some big totes, also in the book:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ1s9re_rBR-F3iUBlc78qeoM_FT6KPHbwAVT9kVplEjzJfopc2OrH_oHWa7taDzWsc3dH8ZFijGKGJ9PJjzXDZbeCv3CqmbWg5BzTJDle9yF2slr_ue6M72wRKC-9xX02OfZxbvRUtL8Z/s1600/IMG_4879.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ1s9re_rBR-F3iUBlc78qeoM_FT6KPHbwAVT9kVplEjzJfopc2OrH_oHWa7taDzWsc3dH8ZFijGKGJ9PJjzXDZbeCv3CqmbWg5BzTJDle9yF2slr_ue6M72wRKC-9xX02OfZxbvRUtL8Z/s1600/IMG_4879.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Here are also some items NOT found in the book that I have been busy making. My bookmarks and a bunch of kitchen scrubbies.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I still have much more to sew and create since I am preparing to sell them at an outdoor Farmer's Market in June! Yes, finally. It won't be at the one I originally planned to sell at. For that one I need to have Vendor Liability Insurance. I figured it will only be worthwhile to pay for insurance if I do more that one show a year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
No, this year I'm going to start off on a smaller scale with one show at a different market, but at this one you thankfully don't need the insurance. I'm treating this as a trial of sorts. Baby #6 will arrive in July and I'm not sure how I'd handle a market and a newborn. If all goes well and according to plan, I will do more shows next summer.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I still have much to prepare for June. I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can do a dry set up with my tent. I'll keep you updated with some of the display props I'm still accumulating.</div>

<br />
It's about to get personal up in here. This is how I go about praying. For my mind, I need prayer to be organized. During the week I wake up at 6am to have a full hour to myself before the kids get up. During this time I do my 30 minutes of prayer. I used to have use a bible, a spiritual book and a journal. I would open up my bible to whatever page, read a little bit, then read a little from a spiritual book, then quite honestly fall asleep on the couch until the kids got up. I was not inspired, and prayer really felt more like another chore. I knew I needed a change and when I need ideas I always turn to Pinterest and Youtube. I found a couple Youtube videos of a couple ladies describing their prayer notebooks. Here is a great one by a lady named <a href="https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=prayer+notebook" target="_blank">Gina</a> and another by a lady named <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq8Zqm0gqTU" target="_blank">Jill</a>. I recommend watching those videos as well. I used ideas from both ladies to make my own.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used a 1.5", 3-ring binder with pockets on the inside and a clear pocket on the front. I personalized it with some scrapbook paper, and I can swap it out when I need a change.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On the inside pocket I have a paper that has a 3 months-at-a-glance sheet in it. I use it to keep track of certain things to pray for that only happen rarely. For example, if one of my friends or family members are travelling, I write it down. If someone is having a birthday, I pray for special blessings for them on that day, etc. I also keep track of novena's or special days on the Catholic calendar. Whenever I open my binder I look at this paper first to see if anyone needs a prayer for safe travel, or special blessings, or to remember to do my novena prayer if I happen to be saying one. </div>

On the other side I have a pencil case specially made for a binder. I have a pen, a post-it notepad and some stickers in it. I don't use the stickers anymore but just keep them there just in case and also 'cause they're cute.<br />

Here is a plastic pocket thingy (official term, I believe). I have scrap paper to write out my confessional list. The washi tape on the bottom right hand corner is to keep track of when I last went to confession. I like giving an accurate date of when my last confession was to the priest. And it also helps me to remember around what date to go again. </div>

I separated my journal into eight sections. One "Daily", and then one for each day of the week. I used the re-positionable tabs that have a sticky backing. I added washi tape to make them purdy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Each tab is placed on a clear page protector that has cardstock in it to make it sturdy. I also added some labels for the cardstock pages, but that was overkill since I only use the tabs to help me find the section I need.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The first section is the "Daily" section. These are prayers I pray on a daily basis. I added the acronym "ACTS" which stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication. For adoration, I used to think of God's creation, like the weather, earth and all it's creatures. But I felt that wasn't enough, I was missing a whole bunch'o'stuff. I turned to the internet again and found a great page found <a href="http://westwoodpc.org/clientimages/43146/documents/31way_praise.pdf" target="_blank">here</a>. I just look at the day it is and then think of THAT aspect of God's greatness to be praised. For example, day 13: A Personal God. I do my Examination of Conscience next, but I go into detail about that later. Then I pray for what I'm thankful. After that I move on to my supplication prayers found on the following pages.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpJsLv-EDMaUKg7ATFfw_ogABvPjeyI5oMDmd_o43JivxXHghuf1z_u0qCNspSj0BjFq_ckD0jpUuMEwdB58UWJ1mT_z5SICAnaRnz2hvrn2byGSRaxl97GEGS6M4J9-_BPYuHFc5Fx7N1/s1600/Dailyoffers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpJsLv-EDMaUKg7ATFfw_ogABvPjeyI5oMDmd_o43JivxXHghuf1z_u0qCNspSj0BjFq_ckD0jpUuMEwdB58UWJ1mT_z5SICAnaRnz2hvrn2byGSRaxl97GEGS6M4J9-_BPYuHFc5Fx7N1/s1600/Dailyoffers.jpg" height="640" width="425" /></a></div>
<br />
The next page holds all of my "daily offerings". In the Catholic faith, we believe we can offer up our sufferings on behalf of someone. Kind of like a physical prayer. For instance on the 19th day of the month I offer up my sufferings for those thinking of committing suicide. I have a ring on my middle finger on my right hand that reminds me of this. For example, let's say I have to get up in the middle of doing something (such as writing this blog post) to go bring my toddler to the bathroom and I really don't feel like it. I get up without complaining and offer that inconvenience for a soul who wants to give up. I blocked out the first 7 days because they're family member's names.<br />

This page has got to be the best prayers I have found for a mother. Short, and to the point. Brilliant. You can find it <a href="http://www.imom.com/printable/10-mom-prayers/" target="_blank">here</a>. For this page, I just pray what I feel I need more help with, which is usually patience and wisdom.<br />

I may take this page out of the binder. I found a few prayers on pinterest and even made one, myself, then printed them off. This was before I found that last awesome page. Here is the spiritual communion I designed on Pic monkey that you can copy and print off it you'd like.<br />

Next comes some bible reading. I needed structure and so I found this bible reading plan. The Book of Common Prayer Daily Office found <a href="http://www.esv.org/resources/reading-plans-devotions/" target="_blank">here.</a> It doesn't look like you can print it off anymore but you can have it delivered daily to your phone or email. There are also some other daily prayer devotion plans that you can print off on that site. I keep track of where I'm at by using a sticky arrow note thing. I've fallen behind on my readings and I'm not on the day it says I should be on. So that's why I use the arrow.<br />

<br />
This page is for the afternoon. I first say the noontime Angelus, then the Anima Christi which is my favourite prayer. I couldn't find a picture on Pinterest with the version I'm used to saying so I designed my own using Picmonkey again. I have my Examination of Conscience questions here. These questions are my personal questions I use to examine my own conscience. You can use the same ones if you like. The point is to make questions to target what you struggle with in the day-to-day and resolve to do better on those points. Lately I've been doing my examination during the "C" of ACTS in the morning.<br />
<br />

<br />
Now on to each day of the week. After doing all the "Daily" prayers I then turn to the day of the week that it is. <br />
<br />
Mondays: My husband and myself. I like to use prompt words instead of long sentences. It's just a personal preference. For example, for myself I wrote, "good example" and "spend time". Which for me means to pray that I live as a good example for my children and I also pray for the motivation and desire to spend time with my children. Sounds bad I know, but I struggle with this.<br />
<br />
Tuesdays: Us as a family, my marriage, and child #1.<br />
<br />
Wednesdays: On the left-hand side of the page is child #2 and the right is my In-laws and my side of the family, each by name. Now I don't pray for each family member each week but I do have them listed out. I then use the sticky arrow thing that I mentioned earlier, to keep track of where I am at on the list of family members. A picture to show you this is found below.<br />
<br />
Thursdays: Child #3 on the left, and all my friends by name on the right.<br />
<br />
Fridays: Child #4 on the left and all my neighbours by name on the right.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Saturdays: Child #5 & soon to be 6 on the left and then a list of those in need on the right. It's almost a copy of my daily offerings.<br />
<br />

<br />
And finally Sundays: My Godchildren, sponsored child and future children to enter our family such as grandchildren (a looong way away) and future spouses of my kids, should that be the path God chooses for them. Then, on the right as you can see, the Catholic church, the Pope, the parish I attend and those in it, and finally the city I live in.<br />

<br />
That's it. I've been doing this organized prayer system for a few months now and it's just perfect for me. I hope this helps you out if you are struggling like I was or maybe just need a change of pace. I'm actually excited to wake up each morning to my prayer time. This usually takes my around 30 min to complete.<br />

<br />
We're a little more than a week into the new year. Have any resolutions? I have set some and it's going well. But first, to know where you're going you gotta know where you've been.<br />
<br />
I dubbed last year as "The Year of Order". Did I accomplish this? Well, yes. After purchasing Alejandra's Power of Productivity Course I managed to order my day, week, month and year. That was a huge task, and so worth it because it helped me tackle quite a few organizing projects in the home.<br />

<br />
There are still a few areas that I've organized which I haven't shared yet. Our entry way is organized, as well as some routines with the kids. I hope to share some of that with you later this year. I've also revamped and organized my prayer life into a prayer notebook. I will go into detail about that in the next post.<br />
<br />
With that said, there are many areas, that I have yet to tackle. <br />
<br />
Back to 2015. I have dubbed it "The Year to Take the Plunge". Here are a few of my goals:<br />
<br />
I have talked, and talked and thought and over-thought for many years to enter a farmers market to sell some of my crafts. I came close last year and bought a white tent and tables as well as make some display items to showcase my creations. I had some set backs and didn't enter last year. But this is THE year! I really need to work on building my inventory.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFjfn5xM9xUuYoAblLqaivcYUP2mvJl1Qu3dLpx2LT0NEMK1BGR-SdKLPEO8xXkjJNPGajjjYGYXeDfObleFuoLiA9k9k0V_Ou7gPTXioQwf9KdXKjLGbrhHkuoKwzknLC1D-7-_gF6-mJ/s1600/IMG_4331.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFjfn5xM9xUuYoAblLqaivcYUP2mvJl1Qu3dLpx2LT0NEMK1BGR-SdKLPEO8xXkjJNPGajjjYGYXeDfObleFuoLiA9k9k0V_Ou7gPTXioQwf9KdXKjLGbrhHkuoKwzknLC1D-7-_gF6-mJ/s1600/IMG_4331.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicZttuz7KcdrD3DV20koE_Z5l2-eDKifIObkZP6-dE1q6MjTHanv8QbPuCwt_qLmA67fCKVMxMVW7AHGLvKpr-viqTr5cn-0jS8C_hdMIQEDmIc8axz6ukXX2giCCEwFNJQu6BVH6bVwyo/s1600/IMG_4435.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicZttuz7KcdrD3DV20koE_Z5l2-eDKifIObkZP6-dE1q6MjTHanv8QbPuCwt_qLmA67fCKVMxMVW7AHGLvKpr-viqTr5cn-0jS8C_hdMIQEDmIc8axz6ukXX2giCCEwFNJQu6BVH6bVwyo/s1600/IMG_4435.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I had bought an electric Piano a couple years ago in hopes of playing, but it ended up becoming a fancy side table for stuff. I want to at least play one FULL song on it.<br />
<br />
I also want to juggle. Not figuratively, I'm already juggling five, soon to be six children, and a husband and a home. But literally! Don't know why. I guess I want to be able to say "yes", if someone ever asks "do you have a hidden talent?". <br />
<br />
Those are just a few of the "bigger" goals I have this year. So I'm taking the plunge. <br />
<br />
Here is how I've set my goals and how I'm keeping track. A simple little notebook that I covered with washi tape.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuKv4WtzNRs_bpp22AhgdH6EtaK8ofF1IltJCC_ytmUsR-wpjpFzP9BIghojKVMVtlfFw0FPCoHZW9YitfIH0nQq6Cl7Dj0y7kIDvjdjvn462ueu1H4COKmELZh6zqdt5_ceKzYgf6-Q8u/s1600/IMG_4818.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuKv4WtzNRs_bpp22AhgdH6EtaK8ofF1IltJCC_ytmUsR-wpjpFzP9BIghojKVMVtlfFw0FPCoHZW9YitfIH0nQq6Cl7Dj0y7kIDvjdjvn462ueu1H4COKmELZh6zqdt5_ceKzYgf6-Q8u/s1600/IMG_4818.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The first page I've have written all the things I hope to accomplish in 2015.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK2lV3Z9uHaoHQE1m45tAAHY_ofUHDBZ8FifbdcY1tyvRaKAwOWenn1s0vv0t93ZDN3vP0vA_UrhEoCJsGhrkf42LdNIzRQGJxAK4FQE1wJulO2ONg_ecqQCLODqwY6MTj7so31NGh3mXa/s1600/IMG_4819.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK2lV3Z9uHaoHQE1m45tAAHY_ofUHDBZ8FifbdcY1tyvRaKAwOWenn1s0vv0t93ZDN3vP0vA_UrhEoCJsGhrkf42LdNIzRQGJxAK4FQE1wJulO2ONg_ecqQCLODqwY6MTj7so31NGh3mXa/s1600/IMG_4819.JPG" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is a look at January. I highlighted the background for the month in washi tape. I've broken down my goals into three categories.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhDzDFxlytovzRk_2oOimeaXZmDsyOV31O_NOXjs9OlnfmeP0raDMiJePIwrfc68yN377K2ORiFXE7agoDB8haEH6S-C3__GjNJ3DPovr1GtIPBFj3LQR7qYEj6xoOOPxgJy39YvTYCCqF/s1600/IMG_4821.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhDzDFxlytovzRk_2oOimeaXZmDsyOV31O_NOXjs9OlnfmeP0raDMiJePIwrfc68yN377K2ORiFXE7agoDB8haEH6S-C3__GjNJ3DPovr1GtIPBFj3LQR7qYEj6xoOOPxgJy39YvTYCCqF/s1600/IMG_4821.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Sewing Goals : Or crafting, such as crochet, paper, drawing, or painting a little something.<br />
<br />
House Goals: This includes organizing projects, paint projects, etc.<br />
<br />
Personal Goals: This is anything that I want to do to improve myself as a mom, wife, person, daughter of God, etc. My goal to juggle would go here.<br />
<br />
As you can see, on the side I have little squares labelled 1-31. This is where I check off what I've accomplished for my <u>personal</u> goal that day. In this case I have two things to do each day. When I have accomplished my goals in one of the other categories, I'll highlight it, then give a big red check mark beside the goal.<br />
<br />
The last square labelled "To Remember" is just to jot down milestones in my kids life, like losing a tooth, or a funny thing my daughter said like when my four year-old saw Knights of Columbus for the first time and called them "pirates!", anything that I want to remember (hence the name).<br />
<br />
<br />
So that's it. Have a great 2015.<br />
<br />

Four years! I finally finished it last night and laid it on my sleeping daughter to surprise her in the morning when she woke up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO-zuoAvge0cy-xueZxz9-gDov73Kn5NG4iIxD1nkEZChMtsQXZHtBr52Mz8AUlttFunHoYA6hNEQIWz6eaPc1u5mTinwA_EE0yTkl_DUdSjQBTCix1fhaNzlfm50BdAWbL00hbLIiec02/s1600/IMG_4750.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO-zuoAvge0cy-xueZxz9-gDov73Kn5NG4iIxD1nkEZChMtsQXZHtBr52Mz8AUlttFunHoYA6hNEQIWz6eaPc1u5mTinwA_EE0yTkl_DUdSjQBTCix1fhaNzlfm50BdAWbL00hbLIiec02/s1600/IMG_4750.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It was my first time working with triangles, and after cutting some of them wonky, I stalled. For three years! Then this past summer I resolved to finish this quilt THIS year. I fixed the wonky triangles and finished cutting up the rest of the fabric I set aside.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhPhnB0k2zc7ZkwQOtsi-s8I0Te0uFO2Vehoehur8J6uCw5OqWvTp1QuB2RZuM5FCmJQfVGah5ZoC5T-y9pdXxrrt4zAGPSUjuya9UVnBJPYM4HadySMGl8PGKwLR5qzyf-j3lolCP35Th/s1600/IMG_4752.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhPhnB0k2zc7ZkwQOtsi-s8I0Te0uFO2Vehoehur8J6uCw5OqWvTp1QuB2RZuM5FCmJQfVGah5ZoC5T-y9pdXxrrt4zAGPSUjuya9UVnBJPYM4HadySMGl8PGKwLR5qzyf-j3lolCP35Th/s1600/IMG_4752.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Then, when I laid everything out I realized I made a whopper in miscalculation. I intended on zigzagging the entire quilt horizontally but I came up short. I realized I only had enough zigzags that got me <i>half-way</i> down the quilt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-bapZJLYVi_nsZ2flgSuwaoM3tvwVly_m9dBoc6GzjbR1jAdOSSOSu4tsG5EKczdZDZ4xyIXMQTxk_qxDhxrFDR2UpgTNDAzeNX-FAjddE11j_eF6wiqXcVNprn7ly_19yx68WV68eNmT/s1600/IMG_4753.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-bapZJLYVi_nsZ2flgSuwaoM3tvwVly_m9dBoc6GzjbR1jAdOSSOSu4tsG5EKczdZDZ4xyIXMQTxk_qxDhxrFDR2UpgTNDAzeNX-FAjddE11j_eF6wiqXcVNprn7ly_19yx68WV68eNmT/s1600/IMG_4753.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I flipped it 180 and made a big border around what I had instead. Since this was for my oldest I had her pick out the fabric for the border. I'm glad for the pattern on the border as it hides all the puckers where the fabric gathered as I sewed.<br />
<br />
Once the top was pieced, then sandwiched, I echo-quilted every other zigzag, and some straight lines on the borders.<br />
<br />
Well it's done, and I'm glad. I've realized I'm a small project kinda gal. I prefer something that can be finished from start to finish in like 5 hours tops.<br />
<br />
A pretty loud quilt huh?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now I need to go and finish that quilt I started for my son three years ago... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Noticing a pattern here? </div>
<br />
Blessings,<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I've been memorizing scripture for a while now. I went and bought this black mesh index card holder from Staples a couple years ago. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.staples-3p.com/s7/is/image/Staples/s0092348_sc7?$splssku$" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.staples-3p.com/s7/is/image/Staples/s0092348_sc7?$splssku$" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I tried decorating it with colourful scrapbook brads. Then the lid fell off. And there it sat, on my dresser since. It was sad looking. Looking at that sad, dark index box was not inspiring to me.<br />
<br />
I kept at memorizing scripture however and I accumulated enough scriptures to organize them "<a href="https://simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/memorysys/" target="_blank">Charlotte Mason style</a>". This gave me enough motivation to give this little box a makeover.<br />
<br />
First step was to spray paint it chrome. After that dried, I painted the accents pink with acrylic paint free-handed. Next, I put a final coat of Mod-podge just to give the pink a bit of shine and protection. Finally, I had my husband glue the lid back on with whatever glue he uses to do that sort of thing.<br />
<br />
Now, here it sits on my dresser. Much better, and more inspiring I'd say. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKbHdvOctRRHcCtZFIX2a-9zOf4qjy2Qiq1oPD3F-fWFSa7_Xiufdsa1wigUI7kE1PXzOgQs1_giZOyumKXuT1katV6OYjUdRIranVNAREnZyocibWjcuoGsmQM7PAr5Ouv_g6_o2KID83/s1600/IMG_4725.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKbHdvOctRRHcCtZFIX2a-9zOf4qjy2Qiq1oPD3F-fWFSa7_Xiufdsa1wigUI7kE1PXzOgQs1_giZOyumKXuT1katV6OYjUdRIranVNAREnZyocibWjcuoGsmQM7PAr5Ouv_g6_o2KID83/s1600/IMG_4725.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My daily scripture is in front. And the ones that I know, but are still relatively new are in the Mon-Sat tabs (I take Sunday "off" since I get in a lot of scripture at mass).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVEpPyIEnnCb4484og_17tp5ARL7d6MStZaAfRn0d10VBL7PkjrRutBwW3lBYDLFzfc3SX-2K3TecuX555FLCPtpNxtXWWdu0tZHJZ3xLcUAtnvI6aCty4h5zLk82AAxdL6Z0NrW2HzJtW/s1600/IMG_4726.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVEpPyIEnnCb4484og_17tp5ARL7d6MStZaAfRn0d10VBL7PkjrRutBwW3lBYDLFzfc3SX-2K3TecuX555FLCPtpNxtXWWdu0tZHJZ3xLcUAtnvI6aCty4h5zLk82AAxdL6Z0NrW2HzJtW/s1600/IMG_4726.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXpFiwkGqR95IL0ASRgunChuk4ncwewyafg7j6und3C4fO8dENc3DKRvG0TQroyrt-C3VqYZxM8B2u9m0XrRm5L_VDxD6OoiFyDqa77my_nixn79q3lD2rPIg2friRelRyrkzS3ukd3Z9r/s1600/IMG_4727.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXpFiwkGqR95IL0ASRgunChuk4ncwewyafg7j6und3C4fO8dENc3DKRvG0TQroyrt-C3VqYZxM8B2u9m0XrRm5L_VDxD6OoiFyDqa77my_nixn79q3lD2rPIg2friRelRyrkzS3ukd3Z9r/s1600/IMG_4727.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The ones that I know pretty well are in the 1-31 tabs. Right now, I only have enough for 18 but as I learn more they will get filled. Since the box came with only 12 tabbed cards I made my own with index cards and some Scotch Expression tape.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixqYEEgbLf7aGY9YBhVen63XNq7aJjV1-mz7ujUY0oP9i308RvzeDK633fnb-4AY_4Gwy1NtB8knGJH5FL9k0nfIr90BlvKI_sO1jbHTxlbypYR9OTTj4cxX4uz6R67Qu0NtrFr1sgxvsb/s1600/IMG_4728.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixqYEEgbLf7aGY9YBhVen63XNq7aJjV1-mz7ujUY0oP9i308RvzeDK633fnb-4AY_4Gwy1NtB8knGJH5FL9k0nfIr90BlvKI_sO1jbHTxlbypYR9OTTj4cxX4uz6R67Qu0NtrFr1sgxvsb/s1600/IMG_4728.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And the final tab is "To Learn" which is self explanatory. I also store all the extra cards behind this one.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There you have it. Each day I review my daily scripture card, the card behind that day of the week, and also the day of the month it is that day. </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Hi All,</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This summer I got at least one major project done. I finally finished painting our kitchen cabinets! Whew, that was quite a doozy.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />I started in June. And finally finished last week. No, I have not been painting non-stop since June. I <i>started</i> in June, with some time off in between. Since we didn't have a whole lot of room, I decided to break this project into three phases. It would have been too much to take off ALL the cabinet doors at once. The major reason being we don't have enough room to do that. So, due to lack of room, three phases is what it took.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Here's a look at what I started off with: Basic 90's oak.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR21ySAtBYEMEJJXe4Ggkkc6Zh7LrPvHCCrOczjKFb7kleHY57_gbSeGi64wJ1JP-fyoLTar3I_JgxDBvnHbC7Z1ieAujXVy-BalGnIUgH6zL33e42w_EZYKFgUJC4WYosJiD9T3t5d0TS/s1600/IMG_4225.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR21ySAtBYEMEJJXe4Ggkkc6Zh7LrPvHCCrOczjKFb7kleHY57_gbSeGi64wJ1JP-fyoLTar3I_JgxDBvnHbC7Z1ieAujXVy-BalGnIUgH6zL33e42w_EZYKFgUJC4WYosJiD9T3t5d0TS/s1600/IMG_4225.JPG" height="266" width="400" /> </a> </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMDwtMgqKQ2RSOsugiooTgXexEMFdOQWT4fStgmzQmLALSp4cugRZf4v3isAFHWD1BE5bFiPd9ood4DqMHWuRwsgyLdPIb3TBJkbA2i8CxR7P1yzl86sigyTomaJ7poWvlu1O6Pbr912Y9/s1600/IMG_4224.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMDwtMgqKQ2RSOsugiooTgXexEMFdOQWT4fStgmzQmLALSp4cugRZf4v3isAFHWD1BE5bFiPd9ood4DqMHWuRwsgyLdPIb3TBJkbA2i8CxR7P1yzl86sigyTomaJ7poWvlu1O6Pbr912Y9/s1600/IMG_4224.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I wanted to brighten up the space, but did not what stark white. I opted for Behr Linen white, and some new hardware. I started with oil-based primer (stinky stuff).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
First phase was the top cabinets. Just a note; don't start with the cabinets you see most often, up close and in your face, unless you're a pro and this is not your first go 'round. I can see all the little flaws in these, that I was able to iron out with a bit of practice.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Second phase was the bottom cabinets by the sink and to the left of the stove, after a long reprieve for some family and 10 year wedding anniversary celebrations for my hubby and I.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sorry, no progress pic for that. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last was around the fridge and the drawers next to the stove.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Boy am I glad that's over. But I still have three bathroom vanities to get to. Also that nice oak trim you see around the pantry? Ya, that has to be painted white. And I plan on painting ALL the trim in the house. Let me tell you, that is A LOT of trim. I'm taking a break for now though. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
Well we're in the first week of school here and to celebrate such an occasion I thought I'd blog about the homework board, or school board I made using two bulletin boards.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Truth be told, I made this last year. It's just taken me awhile to post it. It's been working for our family though, so at least you know it works!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
I started with two plain bulletin boards purchased from the thrift store. I wanted to attach them so that I will have a bigger board.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKKIgpq0QzApq7eZQ-9KJUSVq9PGVcxxvWsolsLHHrijBexRd2IiJERGYqVQHA_6xJABYTCO1x2ACt7RN4qRiPNgxl4D2SYTKYxEz27-Scj5wiQf48DkIbiQPRyvGylX0AYfrue_VJF0DI/s1600/IMG_3135.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKKIgpq0QzApq7eZQ-9KJUSVq9PGVcxxvWsolsLHHrijBexRd2IiJERGYqVQHA_6xJABYTCO1x2ACt7RN4qRiPNgxl4D2SYTKYxEz27-Scj5wiQf48DkIbiQPRyvGylX0AYfrue_VJF0DI/s1600/IMG_3135.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSUSHHVM9AVTFj_OmbIhYaOv_RD-I909OYt4upy4SCvPO-qwJPLNm70-FcUJon3PO-ZxVeLLop7G253YMyEZXbpQZrTtRAb-dv7Imxk9Uqm1QRONI8vclQPOKz2910Jg-H-56vYWqbDFkb/s1600/IMG_3136.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSUSHHVM9AVTFj_OmbIhYaOv_RD-I909OYt4upy4SCvPO-qwJPLNm70-FcUJon3PO-ZxVeLLop7G253YMyEZXbpQZrTtRAb-dv7Imxk9Uqm1QRONI8vclQPOKz2910Jg-H-56vYWqbDFkb/s1600/IMG_3136.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
So I used some 2 x 1's and cut them to size. Then Gorilla glued them together. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBjnN5PjxboycdFuCCs4b6OvUk87TSeOXyyL6l5BRYfXMxkRORFiqt2RYqKtziFOlFYZw1xdD0Z1D2_slPDV1wQmPbTyQwa33nhDp1u1J5KwFA4g9UmvplXADYM0T9X2CbWWu7PPih_Vx7/s1600/IMG_3192.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBjnN5PjxboycdFuCCs4b6OvUk87TSeOXyyL6l5BRYfXMxkRORFiqt2RYqKtziFOlFYZw1xdD0Z1D2_slPDV1wQmPbTyQwa33nhDp1u1J5KwFA4g9UmvplXADYM0T9X2CbWWu7PPih_Vx7/s1600/IMG_3192.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF0k8vripoPMX1E73Q0hCwSVxc3zrMGZltmFmTllkbaJGpeisHe1awSug3qulesVXpzZkdUI4KBnv8xmChUV8AO9woIdRnub7RP5ISLzl_spDVvU3r03B-raU0TWoxD9BCNs_rVJT8w2W1/s1600/IMG_3194.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF0k8vripoPMX1E73Q0hCwSVxc3zrMGZltmFmTllkbaJGpeisHe1awSug3qulesVXpzZkdUI4KBnv8xmChUV8AO9woIdRnub7RP5ISLzl_spDVvU3r03B-raU0TWoxD9BCNs_rVJT8w2W1/s1600/IMG_3194.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I then painted it all white to tie it all together. Ta da! Now they're attached together, making for a larger board. Just add some washi tape to jazz it up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTKFyqP1XVC8kg6pFVr6fJQ0C8vunFfyBMomP4u5bo7V-MAp9EraHXS0wRsjo3IvlTAYCy-97oVLx2cPgTVO1XXmZgA0DQJj0zGxeGXX3WJ_PfeVtFBQppr4i6nZ5H6uiGu5kh5NImaA1C/s1600/IMG_4635.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTKFyqP1XVC8kg6pFVr6fJQ0C8vunFfyBMomP4u5bo7V-MAp9EraHXS0wRsjo3IvlTAYCy-97oVLx2cPgTVO1XXmZgA0DQJj0zGxeGXX3WJ_PfeVtFBQppr4i6nZ5H6uiGu5kh5NImaA1C/s1600/IMG_4635.JPG" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
Underneath, I added two metal wall file folders from target for $11 each! Much better than the plastic ones I was eyeing from Staples. Now when the kids get home, any notices get pinned to the board so that my fridge isn't cluttered up, and their homework and agendas go in the file folders.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqJZxKj6L16b88EqC2ijxaLYw6WhAvbvdpIUfA7ELbHMsN4IE6IVW_T4r3-tNr1UymoWoywbWSOc5_8WGuosY6558KjqTCaPaBmZKI-Y_KNCzn-pPSTKZBtP985Bp_Q4oqQ5l0LTH66ITq/s1600/IMG_4636.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqJZxKj6L16b88EqC2ijxaLYw6WhAvbvdpIUfA7ELbHMsN4IE6IVW_T4r3-tNr1UymoWoywbWSOc5_8WGuosY6558KjqTCaPaBmZKI-Y_KNCzn-pPSTKZBtP985Bp_Q4oqQ5l0LTH66ITq/s1600/IMG_4636.JPG" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEqmPk96xEd5P23ivYnUt2EFlFeuaepeEcJQYaaqCDqhcyXebnS8Warl6JmjBe8B0IFGVTIKUDl_s7RFF-SXNj6wLFIkmjwcpxt9YxIuD7WhPcTFQG-N2HQxaZSm-KsWxLTVLUbX-3vSza/s1600/IMG_4631.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />
There you have it, a place for any school papers and birthday invites, or anything to do with my children. The fridge is reserved for other papers.<br />
<br />
<br />
Blessings,<br />
